The Holidays are a time of great joy. But along with that, many people experience heightened levels of stress, which can make them more vulnerable to losing touch with their bodies and overeating. It doesn't help that we have so many great meals and desserts lurking around every corner!
It is well known that the New Year brings millions of resolutions involving diets, exercise, eating programs, fitness equipment and gimmicks. Statistics say that diets fail 95% of the time, and there are many reasons for that, a prominent one being that deprivation does not work! People often associate healthy eating with deprivation, and this will backfire every time, causing overeating. I believe that the main reason people overeat is because of a lack of awareness and a disconnection from their bodies and their emotions.
